In What's Happening IRL?
2020-2023 has been a whirlwind. Am I right? Even though multiple years have flown by, it feels like one long year of angst, setbacks, and disorganized chaos. But something in the air, leading up to 2024, has felt like this year is going to be a miracle and everything we've been needing. As we go into the next year, The Medley wants to know: 1. What's your take on New Year resolutions? 2. Is there a resolution you always make but never achieve? 3. What's a nontraditional, nonmeasurable resolution you can set for yourself right now? I'll go first: 1. I think New Year resolutions are the perfect way to create a hard reset in your life. I don't like the idea of creating resolutions for external gain, like getting fit solely for validation or because everyone else is starting that gym membership this time of year, but I do love the idea of using resolutions as a way to reflect on your previous year and inspire a better version of yourself. 2. I was taught to shoot for the stars, so my problem is never the resolutions I make but the QUANTITY. Every year, I seem to forget that I'm a 20-something Taurus who loves achievements as much as she loves breaks. As a result, I run myself to the ground trying to check off the 2 languages, 10 books per month, and 9 countries I've told everybody I'm visiting on my entry-level salary. 3. My 2024 resolution is to build better habits that help me stay disciplined. Like less TikTok and more agenda setting...unless I'm on TikTok to help my agenda setting. Have y'all seen that viral big calendar?(https://www.tiktok.com/@jesseitzler/video/7304485691667287342) Is it worth the hype?
